A Night in the Ravens Den

Pittsburgh won the game, the Ravens could not catch up. For once, Baltimore’s other Birds (not the Orioles) were out hit at the end. The Ravens need some offensive playmakers. A Plaxico Burress type receiver would do wonders for Joe Flacco’s numbers.

This is not as much about the game as about the party. It was one of the best indoor tailgate parties I have been to. My long-time friend Jim has partially recreated Baltimore’s old Memorial Stadium in his basement.

I am the in the Terp jersey, that is Jim in the Ravens #5 jersey. Everyone there (about 15 folks) were in Ravens purple. Jim has gone as far as putting a stand up (big boy) urinal in the basement with a LCD flat panel above the facility. Very nice.

The stadium seating area features seats from the stadium, signs from the ball park, a lot of signed memorabillia and a full bar. In addition, there is a soda machine and a vending machine. On top of that is a 65″ Mitsubishi DiamondVision.

Outside is a giant gas grill of which Uncle Fuzzy (Jim) is the Grill Master.

The highlight of the social calendar at Uncle Fuzzy’s place is the Super Bowl party. This is only conference championship weekend. A warm up to the big day. For the masses gathered, the day was bitter sweet. A great party, a looking forward to Super Sunday and glumness over the outcome of the AFC Championship game.

For Baltimore it is wait ’til next year, but what a party it was.
