Football Friday

Football Weekend
Clemson v Terps and Eagles v Redskins has a good feel to it. I am not sure if this is still a “big game” for Maryland as the bloom is a bit off the rose in College Park. If the Terps are still going to get back in the bowl hunt, Saturday is the day to take down Clemson.

Of course (just like every year) Clemson is in the national championship hunt until they lose too many games. I have a feeling this is the game the Tigers are going down.

Philly v Skins is a big game. First Redskins game I am excited for in a few years. Maybe the Redskins can become relevant for winning a few games instead of losing too many.

Basketball
Tonight is Mid-Nite Madness across the country.  For Maryland it starts at 10:30p.

The big recent news is that center Alexi Len has not been cleared by the NCAA to start practicing.  There is a conflict with the team he played for in Ukraine and the NCAA can not certify that he was not a paid professional.

This is the first time is 23 years that Gary Williams is not the coach, so this year will be different.  Terps only have 8 scholarship players.  I look for new coach Mark Turgeon to be a winner in College Park.

Soccer
A rare mention of Soccer in the blog!  Duke comes to College Park tonight to play the #2 ranked men’s soccer team.  This is such a big deal I may get out there myself.

Football
It looks like CJ Brown will get his first start at QB.  I really don’t like the “head coach only” talks to the media.  I would love to know what DC Bradford and OC Crowton think about what is going on with the Terps.

All three starting linebackers are out for this week.  We also have a new starter on the offensive line as Pete White looks to make his first start as a Terp filling in for Andrew Gonnella who is lost for the season.

Historically (under Ralph) this is the point in the season where the now 2W and 3L Terps would win a few games to make the last games very meaningful.  Coach Edsall has tried to change the culture in College Park, lets hope that he has held on to part about winning a few more games.
