On Basketball – Coming to a Close

We are down to the last few games of the season for the Terps. After basketball, there is lacrosse and the spring football game. The women’s team could be onto greater heights. Congratulations to the ACC regular season and tournament champs.

It is possible that we have become a soccer and women’s basketball school. You can throw field hockey into the mix. Sort of a Stanford of the east. Stanford wins a lot of NCAA titles in sports you may not have heard of or, at the least, follow.

Stanford routinely is high on the list for the Sears trophy. That is the award for the best sports program. The Cardinal tally up their NCAA titles in golf, basket weaving, water polo and the like and jump to the front of the pack.

Men’s hoops, football, lacrosse are games we play. We get all fired up, watch the games, scream at the refs and have an all around good time. But we have not been able to get the biggest wins recently.

Of course there is more to life than winning a sporting contest. I look forward to writing about some of those other things as the winter sports season comes to a close. But for now, life begins again, anew. 7p on Thursday with NC State in the ACC tournament in Atlanta. Go Gary, Go Terps.

  1. Wayne,

Do you plan on writing about Terps sports after the basketball season? We currently have a lot of Maryland fans on our website, but only a few bloggers. The website is located at http://www.collegefanz.com, and the blogs are free and easy to use.

I think you could gain more of a following if you did your NCAA blogging with us, as we are the biggest college sports site on the net, and therefore we have a devoted following and a vibrant, active community. Also, as I mentioned, the Terps are a huge part of our site…

Take a look around the site and let me know what you think at mgleeson@collegefanz.com. I hope to hear from you soon!

    Mike
