It was a so-so weekend until the 49ers and Falcons got started. Great ending to the 49ers win. Falcons could not score in the second half. Birds looked unstoppable for a few minutes in the first half. 49ers looked dead, but it is a 60 minute game (ever hear that one before?) and you have to give credit to the Niners who had -2 yards in the 1st quarter.
Later in the game, I noticed that the 49ers were running the read option and using the tailback as the ball carrier. It was still effective without the qb running the ball even once. Maybe the Redskins should take note. For those that don’t know the evolution of the pistol formation, Chris Auth at Nevada put the package together for Colin Kaepernick. The Redskins visited with the now retired Coach Auth in the offseason and took the pistol back to DC.
As for the balance of the weekend, the Show went well. The video is below. The Terps really stunk it up at UNC. The offense on the road is abysmal. It is not so bad at home. Young teams play much better at home than on the road. The Terps are no different. I thought that the talent level was higher than it seems to be. Or maybe it is that most freshman can not lead a team. The Terps are woefully short on upper classmen.
The Caps dropped the puck in Tampa on Saturday. I guess the defense was still on strike as the Lightening had several breakaway plays. The defensemen left Braden Hotlby all alone a few times and he gave up 6 goals. We have to play tighter D and stay out of the penalty box.
