AU Goes Dancing

Bender Arena, Washington, DC – The American University defeated visiting Holy Cross (Worcester, MA) 74 – 59 this afternoon to win the Patriot League Tournament and a second consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament.

About 5,000 fans jammed into the arena for the 4:45p start. It was a loud, rocking crowd. Holy Cross brought about 1,500 fans to DC. Garrison Carr had fantastic shooting game for AU. The 5-11 guard from Washington (state) led the Eagles with 24 points. Holy Cross got behind by 20 points in the second-half. The lead was cut to nine, but not really challenged.

This was a cool game to attend as Hilarie (my sister), Richard (cousin) and Ira (best friend) all went to American.

Jordan and Mason got out of school early to go to the game. This is the first tournament championship game for both of them. Their teacher, Miss Cathy, said that they were very excited to be going to the game.

Although they are really Maryland fans, both feel that rooting for AU is not a conflict of interest.

The Blue Crew was having a blast all game.

Holy Cross was shooting in our direction in the 2nd half.
