My kids were whooping it up. After an afternoon at the AU / Holy Cross game, we loved the Maryland game. This is one of my favorite Terps teams of all time. Think back to January when the rumor mill had Gary being fired and the team going 3-13 in the ACC.
Now it looks like we are going to the NCAA Tourney. What a turnaround. What a sweet moment. Sean Mosely remembered how to shoot (12 pts. 6 reb). Dino Gregory had another strong game.
Lets face it, Wake Forest on talent alone is way ahead of this feisty bunch of turtles. They are bigger, faster and way more talented. But on this night, the Terps made enough layups and 3 pointers to stay in the game. And then the Turtles got hot, bumping the lead to 20 pts. Finally, after Wake started to play like a top 10 team, the Terps put the game away with a few threes.
This evening, Mason kept the Greivis jersey on all night. Jordan, a tough critic, can not believe that his Terps are going the big tournament. I have seen the young player develop. Even if Gary does not choose to recruit with the “big boys”, that man can coach.
So we are on to a 3:40 tip against Duke or BC. What a pleasure it is to have a game that we do not need to win. Go Terps.
