On Basketball – 2/15/2009

A pro-Gary (Williams) crowd yesterday saw what happens when the Terps have a decent shooting game. A big ACC win. News and notes on the game.

A short bench – Gary “shortened the bench” today. Only eight Terps hit the hardwood. Usual subs Jin-Soo Kim and Braxton Dupree did not get in. We can attribute this to solid play from Dino Gregory and Dave Neal teamed with an outstanding game from Landon Milborne. Also, no foul trouble from the Maryland bigs.

The fans love seeing Jin Soo in the game. I think that it shouold be a priority to get Jin Soo as much experience as possible. Yesterday the flow with the top eight players was too good to disrupt it. The other favorite is Dave Neal. He still looks like a YMCA guy, but he can shoot. Yesterday he had 10 points and 4 rebound in 25 minutes. It is so cool to see him hit those jumpers (without the actual jumping) down the stretch.

Stand Up for Gary – There were t-shirts and buttons. “We Love Our Coach” screamed the t-shirts. The shirts and buttons were given away by boosters for free before the game. There are thousands and thousands of Gary supporters at the game. There are hundreds of detractors in the press and in online chat rooms.

What is more important is that relations between Debbie and Gary seemed to have normalized. The next task is to get this recruiting class (2009) into Maryland and 2010 class verbally committed to TerpLand.

  1. Saturday’s victory was one of the best team efforts this year. How about the % of free throws! Awesome.

Moreover, how can true Maryland fans want to get rid of Gary? This would truely be a big mistake!

    Go Terps!
