The game was closer than I expected. Maryland is a tough place to coach and play if you are looking for the love of the fans. As you all know, there is so much more to do around the DC/Balt area than go to a game in the rain.
So when you have a chance to get a news headline, make progress with your sports program and become relevant, you have to capitalize. If you do get the attention of the media and win, it can be one of the greatest places to play.
Last week the Maryland football program got buzz-killed at FSU. Now the team is in a position where you have to beat Virginia or all of the momentum is gone. All the naysayers will be out in abundance.
I am quite committed to the football program (can you tell?). I was worried (understatement). The tension was much higher than one would have thought from the outside. It was a must win game.
