I am excited for Bowl Week.
Marshall still listed as the favorite.
Looking back on the season, without the injuries it could have been so much more. I am very happy for Jeremiah Johnson, one of the Terps shutdown corners, who has been out most of the season. He is back to face the Thundering Herd of Marshall.
Other positives have come up this week, mammoth offensive lineman Larry Mayzck has signed and wide receiver Marcus Leak has returned to the team. I believe that star running back Wes Brown will soon be back in school for the Terps. Both Brown and Leak were away from the team this past fall.
In some not so great news, Melvin Keihn the rush-end/linebacker from Gilman in Baltimore, chose VT over Maryland and Virginia for his college of choice.
Also, according to several reports, Ricardo Young is not making the bowl trip and is done with football at Maryland. Ricardo was a quarterback for most of the season and got some time at wide receiver later in the season.
Over 30,000 of the 39,000 tickets for Friday have been sold. According to the Scout.com website, Marshall has not sold as many tickets as anticipated.
Marshall is a high scoring team. I look for the Terps defense, with more healthy starters/players than in any game since the UConn game in week 3, to put up a stiff test for the Herd.
The game is on ESPN at 2:30pm on Friday.
Here are a few pictures from the team hotel (Renaissance Hotel near the Washington Convention Center) from the 24th. The lobby was quiet yesterday morning.
Wayne-
thanks for the post and the pictures.
Have a Happy Holiday to you and the family.
Go Terps!
