Caps Provide the Usual Folding Act – Lose Game 6 to Rangers

The old and true joke – What is red, white and blue and plays golf in May?  The Washington Capitals.

For year after year, no lead is safe.  No victory is assured.  I thought that even old ghosts die.  Not for the Caps.

The Capitals could not be bolstered by a joyous, standing room only crowd at Verizon Center on Sunday evening.  They could not accept the good fortune of having a “close out” game at home. Game 6 of the series went to the Rangers 4-3.  Now the series turns back to Madison Square Garden for game 7 on Wednesday at 7:30 PM.

The Caps got out played for a few minutes but that cost them 4 goals.  The Caps took it to the Rangers with the proper desperation in the 3rd period and almost tied the game.

Of course, if the Caps played as they did in the 3rd period, there are few teams that could beat them. The sad truth is knowing how well the team can play makes the sometimes disinterested version of the Capitals even harder to take.

Here are a few photos from game 6, I don’t know if my soul can handle game 7.
