As the verbal commitments for the 2010 class come rolling in, the Terps are doing well. It appears that we will have a top 40, if not higher, recruiting class. Not bad for a team that was 2 wins and 10 losses last season.
So what does this have to do with keeping Ralph? Well, we had a fairly good recruiting class last year as well. This is two strong classes in a row. All of the recruiting misses happened 4 or 5 years ago. Those mistakes really cost the team in 2009.
From the outside looking in, you could venture that the program is going in the right direction. As a fan, it really sucks to lose. And in 2009 we lost big. But I can see that one more (2011) class like 2010 and 09 would really stock the Fridge.
We are loaded at QB, WR, RB, TE and now it is starting to build the offensive line. On defense, we need some real D linemen and some cover corners. The linebackers and safetys look good.
Ralph has done a lot for the University. He made football matter again. It is worth the 6 or 7 wins that I think we will get in 2010 and then see if there is one more high-end recruiting class to make the future better.
