Terps Possible Recruits Still Unsigned

Lance Stephenson (pictured above), Terrell Vinson, and a few others are still undecided on their choices of college for the fall (2009).

Lance seems to have it boiled down to Kansas, St John’s (my pick for him), and now Memphis. The Terps seem on the outside looking in. I have read that his grades are not so hot. Not a surprise here that he is not going to attend the University of Maryland. It was a huge surprise that he considered the Gary Williams led program in the first place.

Terrell Vinson (St Frances Academy, Baltimore) is now listed as the #90 recruit in America. I have him as going to Umass. Cincinnati and Charlotte are still on his list.

DeShawn Painter, a 6’9″ forward from Hargrave, is still undecided. According to Rivals.com he is still deciding between Kentucky, UVA, NC State, and a host of others.

Jordan Williams picked up a fourth star on the Rivals list recently. With Williams and James Padget coming to Terpland, the future looks bright, especially if Greivis Vasquez stays a Terp.

In other recruiting news for 2009, the number one rated player on the Rivals list is looking at a host of big name schools at this writing. John Wall, a 6’4″ guard from Raleigh is still considering Duke, Carolina, Kentucky, and Miami among others. To have the number one target still uncommitted this late in the process is a big story onto itself.

For 2010, the Terps top target appears to be Will Barton from Lake Clifton in Baltimore. Some experts expect this five star rated 6’5″ guard to be in the top 15 of all recruits for 2010 when the dust settles.
