Elvis Wuz Here

Well at least we got here. When Dave Neal scored to make it 2 – 0 on a layup, I mentioned to the Gang of 3 that “at least we had the lead”. Memphis shot way better than expected. Those dudes are not supposed to be good jump shooters. I guess they didn’t read the press notes.

The Memphis Tigers ran over the Terps on the way to Glendale, Arizona. The license plate on the bus that hit us read, “Elvis Wuz Here”. For those that don’t know, Elvis Presley resided in Memphis, Tn.

It really was as much the defense that the Tigers threw at us as the offense. With all that said, a few more threes and it is a different game. However, the Tigers, in all honesty, seemed better than Maryland across the board execpt coaching.

This is one of those games that you wonder why Gary continued to press all game long. We could not catch up to the Tigers. We did throw everything we had at them and did not give up. Sean Mosely, Adrian Bowie and Dino Gregory had the defensive energy going until the bitter end.

It has been a memorable season. This is still one of my favorite Maryland teams. From the depths of late January to the heights of winning against Carolina, Wake in the ACC tourney and Cal on Thursday, it was really a trip.

The end of the Greivis Era?

For all of you fellow Terrapin fans, you just (probably) saw the last Greivis Vasquez game. He is rumored to be onto the NBA or Europe. I would like to see him back, especially since Lance Stephenson (aka Born Ready) is rumored to be heading to Kansas and not UMD. The number one recruiting target for the Terps for next season is Terrell Vinson. He led Saint Francis Academy to a big win at the Alhambra tournament last night.
