The Gang of Three was surprised and unhappy with the outcome of game seven of the Pens v Caps series. Who is the Gang of Three? Well, there is Jor, Mo and I.
There we are to the left at Game two of the Rangers series. Jor and Mo have been Caps fans all of their lives, you have to factor in that they are only 10 and 7 years of age.
At this tender age, they have been to many Terrapin games. Football, soccer, basketball and lacrosse. Out to the Redskins and to the Wizards. They also made three trips to Verizon Center for the Caps over the past few weeks.
The game on Wednesday held Mo’s interest until the end of the 1st period. He did not make it back in front of the wide screen before the 3rd goal. Once he heard that, he decided to go downstairs and play hockey by himself.
Yes, there is a goal, helmets and sticks in the basement. Doesn’t everyone do that?
Jor stayed with the painful 4th goal and the change of goalies. He then asked if we could change the channel. If you know me, you know the answer. “No!” Followed by, “Are you a fan or not?! Are you in or out?!! Just because we may not win…” You can just guess at the rest. He stayed in his seat.
He managed to squirm out in the middle of the 3rd period. I didn’t say a word.
In conclusion, the little folks were truly upset. It is interesting to watch their reactions because they are true emotions. Not layered and painted over by life’s lessons.
They were most upset that it did not appear that our Caps played as hard. Jor and Mo, the entire Gang of Three in fact, seemed to want it more than the guys on the ice.
That was evident even to a 10 and a 7 year old.

I like the “In or Out”
