It was a good game, but in the end it was a loss. Marshall 31 – Maryland 20.
Marshall played an entertaining brand of football today in Annapolis. Maryland seemed bogged down on offense, certainly a run first type of game plan. If the planned runs did not work out, it seemed very chancy to go to the pass.
Marshall blended well the underneath handoffs with the spread passing game. Often, it seemed that the Herd was just waiting for 3rd down to unleash the throwing game.
Maryland did chug ahead early in the 4th quarter, but Marshall scored the next 14 points and the Terps threw two interceptions. Game over.
The Navy stadium was a nice place for a bowl game. I think it is a fan friendly ballpark. The lines were a bit long at the concession stands and bathrooms and the parking ingress and egress reminded one of FedEx Field, but overall it was a good place for a family fun event.
Prices for the food and drink were ballpark reasonable and there is room to walk around and still see the game.
We will discuss on both TerpTalk and the SportsMaven shows tomorrow what the loss means for the Terps. Catch TerpTalk at 8am on 1580AM and then the Maven at 9am on 1300AM radio. Both shows are available on the Radio.com app.
