It has been a year since I started with TerpTalk. This weekend will be the 53rd week on the air. Thanks to Bruce Posner (Red Turtle Productions) for the opportunity. I have not discussed being on the show much in the blog. After a year, it is time to discuss.
Finding a consistent voice for the radio show was the biggest hurdle for me. By voice, I mean point of view. If you know me, you know that I like to find out why things work. The interaction points and real reasons why. For a radio show, especially one that deals with sports, why all of it works (or does not work) is sometimes too much for a show format.
What I realized is that just being a Terp fan is enough for the show. Having been a dedicated Terp fan for years and years adds a great pantina for the show, but it is the games on the field that tell the story. We are just here to guide the conversation.
Getting to work with Mason, our official intern of TerpTalk and the videographer for many of the TerpTalk videos on YouTube has been a fantastic learning experience for father and son. Being coached by the great Bruce Posner has been a rewarding experience. I have learned a lot about media and production. I trust that I have been a good student.
Thanks to Connie and Jordan who have supported my (and Mason’s) efforts to be at even more sporting events and an early morning Saturday radio show.
One last shout out – thanks Uncle Fuzzy (Jim Cowan) who has pushed me to get on the air for years. He said that there had to be room for me somewhere on the radio or TV.
For those that listen to TerpTalk and my recent visits to the Sports Maven along with those that plan to listen to the upcoming “In the Nest” NFL show, thanks for a great year.
It is time for Terp football and a great 2013 season. I am going to end today’s column in the same style as the video posts
Wayne, You have always been a sport announcer, only difference now is that you are on the radio.
