Terps can’t Bear Losing, Top Cal

The Terps take it 84-71. After trailing 51 to 50 with 10+ minutes to go, the Terps close on a 34 to 20 run. Dino Gregory and Adrian Bowie added a lot of energy to the Terrapin effort. They certainly bolstered the big three of Vasquez (27 pts), Dave Neal and Eric Hayes.

Gary Williams won his 9th straight 1st round game. He has beaten Mike Montgomery in 3 consecutive games, 2 of which in the NCAA tournament. I heard that Gary got a standing ovation from the crowd back at the hotel in Kansas City after the game.

Cal has gone down to Maryland in football (Sept 2008) and now in basketball. Cal’s next shot at the Terps is in September as the Bears host UMD in football.

Maryland plays Memphis in Kansas City at 3:20p on Saturday in the round of 32. If the Terps win, the following game is in Glendale, AZ on Thursday.

Jor, Mo and I watched the game at the Orangeball sportsbar in Rockville. It was the first time the littles went to a bar (other than the Terrapin Club) to watch a game. It was interesting as we joined about 75 other Terp fans for the late afternoon tip-off. We brought our Maryland flag and a great deal of enthusiasm to the effort.

For Saturday, we hope to catch the UNC v Terps lacrosse before the Memphis v Terps game. Go Terps!
