Terrapin Friday

First time in a while that it is not a football Friday.  So lets talk football first, hoops and then soccer.

The Terps find out where they are going bowling on Sunday.  My bet is still on Annapolis and the Military Bowl.  Wherever Maryland ends up, the TerpTalk gang will follow.

Still in the mix are:

Military Bowl Annapolis, Friday 12/27 2:30p

AdvoCare100 Bowl (Independence Bowl) Shreveport, LA 12/31 11:30AM

Heart of Dallas Bowl (at the Cotton Bowl) 1/1/2014 11:00AM

Little Caesars Bowl (Ford Field/Detroit Lions) 12/26 6:00p

Pinstripe Bowl (Yankee Stadium) NYC 12/28 12:15p

It would be odd to be going to a morning football game, lets hope it is in Annapolis and we can get a good turn out of Maryland fans. Second best hope would be the Pinstripe Bowl.  This has an interesting angle shared with Heart of Dallas and Little Caesars in that these are not ACC bowls.

In the legal realm, since the ACC and the Terps are at odds, if Maryland goes to an ACC tie-in bowl (Military or Independence) the bowl proceeds go to the ACC.  At present, Maryland would get none of that money.

If the Terps go to a non-affiliated bowl, Maryland gets the bowl payout.

On the basketball front, things are not going so well.  This is still a team in transition and it is clear (not Shaq Cleare) that all the pieces don’t fit together right now.  On the horizon are some top players (Wiley, Trimble, Nickens, Reed) that can move the needle.  It is a long season, but right now it does not look good.

Soocer – The Terps go against Cal Berkley for a trip to the final four (College Cup) on Saturday. the 4:30p game (not sure if it is 4:30 Eastern or Pacific) can be watched for free at this link.  Terps lost the Bears earlier this year on overtime.  It should be a good one.

Finals are in Philly next weekend.  For a look at the bracket, click here.

Catch us on CBS Sports Radio 1580AM in DC for the 8am show on Saturday and then at 9am on 1300 CBS in Baltimore for the Sports Maven.  Both are available on radio.com app for your smartphone.

As always, Go Terps
