There’s No Crying in Basketball?

Wow, that was the best two minutes of basketball I have seen a player have in all my years watching the Terps.  A Reggie Miller v the Knicks type ending. Greivis was spectacular.

How in the world did we lose?  The Terps have had an enchanted run.  It finally caught up with them today.

Michigan State owed us a miss at the end.  To make up for the miss Steve Blake had against them in San Antonio seven years ago.  It was not to be for the Terps today.

Stunned shock replaced jubilation.  The best 40 seconds of my 11 year old’s life evaporated as the Spartans hit the three.  I instantly had a disconsolate eight year old to deal with as well.

The tears came later.  When we all realized that was it for GV, Eric, Landon and the team that we had through the long winter of 2010.  That was the last time these guys are riding the range together.

It is rare to have a team that stays together like this for 4 years.  It seems longer and better in the rear-view mirror.  I wish we had one more chance together.

Oh those tears, they were mine as well.  I had my heart set on at least the final 8.

Whether they are all NBA all-stars or never touch the hardwood again, the 2009-2010 team made us believe in Maryland Basketball again.  Thanks.
