Under Armour Loyalty

This Under Armour v Nike “thing” is starting to get to me. Over the past few months, I have stopped purchasing Nike products. Before that, I bought from all the vendors, including Adidas, New Balance etc.

With the littles, I have a small man who is an Under Armour guy and a little boy who is partial to Nike. So that is an even split on the home front.  I don’t think I can support the Nike habit any longer.  Just does not feel right.

It’s not a Tiger Woods thing, although that did not help. It not the Oregon Ducks, although that did not help either. Its not even that all of our direct competition are Nike schools (Duke, UNC, WVa and the list goes on).

Now take all of those together, plus that UA is a Maryland-based company along with their support the Terps (better than Nike ever did) and you start to make the case for buying UA products.

I now feel like a traitor Terp when I wear Nike. I still have a ton of golf shirts, shoes and jackets. Many with the Maryland logo. I love the M with the flag pennant across the top.

Adidas, NB and the others don’t elicit the same feelings.

I don’t have any grand conclusions, I just wonder how many of you feel that wearing Nike is less positive now than a few years ago.

  1. Hate to say it but I never put much thought to who makes the garments. I usually buy what I like. Maybe next time I will.
