What a strange week it has been. The fact that both the Redskins and Terps lost is almost forgotten. In a facitious tone, I think they both play again this weekend.
I have been “on tour” as I will call it. Two weeks ago I was in Wilmington, NC (not Delaware) working on a project. I got back to the DC area for the weekend and part of Monday. I spent the past Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday in Charlotte, NC at a Nuclear Construction Summit.
The annual summit is put on by a UK concern, Eye for Energy that really does a great job with events. This was the 3rd year for the summit and it is growing. I have participated (with EXCEL) all three years. After spending a few days with the construction gang, I feel that Nuclear plant
construction will pick up soon in the United States.
On Wednesday night I flew to Huntsville, AL to take a tour of the Bellefonte nuclear plant on Thursday. The plant is under a rebuild and is operated by TVA (Tennessee Valley Authority). It is fascinating to walk through such a large structure that is also very complex. Bellefonte reactor 1 is scheduled to open in a few years.
On the drive from the Marriott to the plant, I saw something I have never seen before. Cotton! I have never seen cotton growing in a field. In fact, it was the first time I was on the ground in Alabama.
Driving around, it seemed like a cross between West Virginia and Hagerstown (Maryland).
The week is ending well, after spending 12 hours at home I am back on the road at the Maryland Society of Accounting annual conference in St. Michaels. I had a panel to moderate on Cloud Computing and then a class to teach on Tech Apps for Accountants to educate firm owners on what helpful tech apps are available. Two more sessions to teach on Saturday morning.
Since the Terps play tomorrow (Saturday) I will leave the conference and drive right to the game. Perfect Terp weather expected, rain/snow, 40 degrees and windy.
