Anyone who follows the Maryland Men’s Basketball team knows that they are a bit up & down. So will the fellows be the good Terps or the not so good Terps? Who knows.
For Cal, they are a guard oriented team. Supposedly a three point shooting gang. The senior starter at center is not much of a scorer. He is much taller than Dave Neal or Dino Gregory. The Bears follow that with two Dave Neal sized forward/centers.
I forsee the Terps using the diamond zone with Sean Mosley at the top to try and throw off the shooting of the Golden Bears.
The Turtles function much better with Eric Hayes at the point and Greivis running the curl. The curl is a play from the flex offense that Juan Dixon used with aplomb. In this play, Greivis starts on the baseline corner, runs toward the basket and then cuts sharply up-court towards the foul line. At that juncture, Greivis looks for the ball and turns quickly to face the basket.
Sooner or later someone will have to help out the big 3. Eric Hayes, Dave Neal and Greivis might be enough. I keep looking for Sean to remember how to shoot, Adrian Bowie to drive and score or Cliff coming off the bench on fire.
As of late, I have been very impressed with Dino’s game. This could be his breakout on the national scene.
