As a Redskin fan I am excited that we are doing something. As a football guy, I am not sure what is being done makes any sense.
This is not the early 70’s and the Redskins are over the hill. I thought (hoped) that this was going to be a re-building franchise. I was ready to give it a year or two. Get some young players in and see what develops.
I guess I had my signals crossed. Bring on Willie Parker, Larry Johnson, an old nose tackle here and a used cornerback there. So you can add Donavan McNabb to the list.
At least the team did not overpay in $, but I am not sure how this became a “Win Now!” situation.
The offensive line is poor. It has been depleted for some time. One could imagine putting a lot of resources into getting the situation fixed. Then you can invest in a quarterback, running game and the like.
For most of last season, the Redskins and Terps faced a similar problem. No O-Line. The defenses held up well enough, but they both were on the field too long.
In getting McNabb, the Redskins probably feel that they now have their own Jamar Robinson and have just put their version of Chris Turner on the bench or out the door.
Both have a long season and many expectations for 2010, both are looking to turn disaster into lemonade.
Wow! McNabb playing for Washington.
Why?
