Outside, Looking In on the NCAA Tournament

Last Sunday, I was ready to change the family plans and head to St Louis.

Now, as I head to Boca on spring break with the kids, I feel like I have lost interest in the NCAA tournament.

I have had a down week since we lost on Sunday.  I still can’t shake it.  It is not as bad as losing to Duke (Gone in 54), there is a different feeling.

I am still stuck on the fact that this gang is over.  Never again a Terp.  One of the great things about college sports is that the players never get old.  We don’t have to worry about an aging Greivis losing a step 10 years from now.

Every picture is of youthful exuberance.  Frozen in time. We can call it the James Dean syndrome.

On the other hand, the time we have together is so short.  The thing about the Duke loses is that we had time to do it again.  Sunday was it, the curtain came down.

So this weekend, I am outside the lines looking in.  Just a look here and there, it is too painful to actually watch others play where we belong.
