The Terps Start to Grow Up

I have been asked several times, OK, I was asked a lot since Saturday, “What did you think of the Terps against WVU?”.

Here is a quick list of what I saw:

1. Terps had a lot of moxie on Saturday.  If they bring that kind of game to the field as the season goes on, six wins is a possibility.

2. On offense, all the plays are being made by freshman or guys in the game for the first time.  So you have to expect mistakes, but you have great hope for the future.

4. When Hills got crushed on the blitz and fumbled (returned for a WVU touchdown), it was a huge downer.  Almost had the kids crying.

3. When the Terps came back to tie the game at 14 all, it set off a party at my house.

5. As the game wore on, we had freshmen playing on the offensive line.  You almost never see that at a D1 level.  I like / love our freshmen linemen and from what I saw, Andrew Zeller and Mike Madaras were very effective.

6. Holy Cow! We have to find a way to cover Tavon Austin.  West Virginia’s star wide receiver (from Baltimore), torched the Terps secondary.  I have an idea on how to cover the best and fastest, I will bring that up in the next blog post.

7. Holy Cow! Part II – Stefon Diggs is awesome.  Three catches, two touchdowns and some great kick returns.  He is every bit a five star player for Maryland.  I think he was under used last Saturday.  Diggs is the ACC rookie of the week.

Here is a bit of the play by play from the WVU game.
