I Have Always Liked Red

Ronald Reagan – “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.'”

The new administration must have never heard this quote. The quote is emblematic of the bedrock of American thought. A country that was born from the fight against over taxation and a general lack of freedom.

The government can help by getting out of the way. Cut taxes, especially payroll taxes, so that more business can hire more people. It really is that simple.

Oh, and one more thing, the only reason that we keep hearing about tax cuts for the wealthy is that they are the only ones that pay taxes. No wealth, no taxes and no jobs. When was the last time you got a job from a poor person?

Onto the next area of total shock. Have you seen Newsweek this week. Holy Cow! It is an entire magazine issue devoted to explaining why we are or should be socialist. I have never seen a piece of yellow journalism* in real time. This is the biggest travesty of supposed journalism that I have ever witnessed.

I could not read the magazine. It was that upsetting. I tried to find an interesting story. I really could not read the magazine.

I will try to read it, just so I know that propaganda that is being spread. If I can stomach the issue, I will write further about it.

I will leave you with a question, how can an American news magazine, owned by the Washington Post put out an issue devoted to the United States being a Socialist Country?

I have always liked Red, but I didn’t believe that the country was going to be Socialist.

* Yellow journalism, in short, is biased opinion masquerading as objective fact. Moreover, the practice of yellow journalism involved sensationalism, distorted stories, and misleading images for the sole purpose of boosting newspaper sales and exciting public opinion. It was particularly indicative of two papers founded and popularized in the late 19th century- The New York World, run by Joseph Pulitzer and The New York Journal, run by William Randolph Hearst.

Thanks to Thinkquest for that definition.
