The Search Continues in College Park

There is a lot of spinning going on and depending on where your get your info or who you are rooting for in the coaching carousel game – your guy may be in the lead.

Locksley interviewed well yesterday and seems to be the 1B choice for the job.  If the tea leaves are being read correctly (big if) DJ Durkin is the interview of the day in College Park.  I would put DJ as 1A choice of the administration this Tuesday.

What about Mark Richt – according to Keith Cavanaugh, there was a scheduling conflict.  So if Richt is to be interviewed, it would be Wednesday or later.  I think he is worth the wait of one day, but you never know about how things work in College Park.

I have it as a three man race to the finish.  My money is still on Locksley.

Here are the specs on Daniel John (DJ) Durkin (thanks Wikipedia) –

2001–2002 Bowling Green (GA)
2003–2004 Notre Dame (GA)
2005 Bowling Green (DE)
2006 Bowling Green (LB/ST)
2007–2009 Stanford (DE/ST)
2010–2012 Florida (LB/ST)
2013–2014 Florida (DC/LB)
2014 Florida (interim HC)
2015–present Michigan (DC/LB)

Concerns are that Justin Fuente got the job at VT and Terp fans are concerned at another big name coming to UVA.  It might be Richt.  So with two big names coming into the area, and the Washington Post treating both UVA and Va Tech as though they are local schools, there is alot of pressure to get this hire right.

Three of the best coaches in the DMV all-time were assistants or little known when they got here – Gibbs for the Redskins, Ralph at Maryland and Harbaugh with the the Ravens.  So I am not scared of taking a coordinator for the head job.

Yesterday I said I would happy with Locks, you can add Durkin and Richt to that list today.
