It has come to pass that one of the most reviled programs in TerpLand and possibly the nation has been caught. Jim Calhoun and his loyal minions at Connecticut have been hard at work plying the dark side of the basketball force for too long.
Through the Rudy Gay saga, the Nate Miles story (see link below) and Atur Majok; the Senator Palpatine act of Calhoun had worn thin. We all knew his was truly the emperor of the dark side. His rebuke (“I’m not giving a dime back! Not a dime!”) to a reporter who dared to question how much $ he was making as the coach ($1.6 mil at least) was the start of the end.
I will write more on this topic as the sordid tale unfolds. I think this evening and the next 10 days are a time to celebrate great basketball. But as the horn sounds before the tip as UConn takes the floor, you may wonder if this is the last game Calhoun will coach for UConn.
