I am not chicken little, but everytime we lose a basketball game (or football game) the vox populi calls for the coaches head.
I am not pollyanna either. Just because we win, does not make everything ok.
What we need from the fans and media is a bit of a level head. Hearing Gary from the courtside postgame interview in Miami, he sounded balanced. Calm and reassuring that we have a young team and could have dome some things better.
He sounded out of place. All others are ranting and raving. I had to console a 10 year old die-hard Terp fan who stayed up to late to listen to the “swoon over Miami” on Wednesday. On Thursday, I had to console a few upset Terps fans of the adult variety.
One lose in Florida (or two) is not the end of the season. We would all like to be big time competitors in the ACC and NCAA tournament every year. I still think that this is the type of team that fits well Gary’s personality.
We do need a few wins. But finishing strong will cure a lot of early season ills.
